Just another night at “The Joe” means watching our home town, Charleston Riverdogs. One of the teams in the South Atlantic League, this class A affiliate team under the New York Yankees played against the Augusta Green Jackets on September 7th, 2015. Charleston was able to clip August with a final score of 2-1 as the season draws to a close. Walby was the winning pitcher, while Montero took the loss for the Green Jackets.
Attending the live event was by coincidence because we were in Augusta for a weekend trip when my husband came home from deployment. We were trying to find something to do and noticed that the Riverdogs were in town and wanted to go catch a game (our first of the season since he was deployed overseas). It was perfect weather at 87 degrees and partly cloudy and was an enjoyable experience. We were able to get acquainted with their fans and enjoyed rooting for both teams in the spirit of sport.

Meeting post game deadlines in my opinion would be extremely stressful for the reporter. Not only do you have to get interviews from both teams while chasing down key players, but they have to dodge other reporters and fans for the teams who want to talk to them as well. After the games (which could end late in the night or early morning), reporters then have to travel back to their home or the office and complete the full postgame story and submitting to their publication. Reporters have to be very careful and cautious to report accurate and interesting information about the players, coaches and sporting event.
